Dear Culver resident,
The City of Culver has applied for a grant to build a Community Storm Shelter. The City would be responsible for 10% of the cost,
which will be around $25,000.00 The work on this project will be done by profesional companies, Not Volunteers. The grants will be
awarded on July 15th.
The Mayor and City Council members signed a resoultion to give up their City paychecks for one year, applying that amount of
money to the 10% the City would owe. Because of this gesture, they are also asking City Residents and friends to make donations
towards this 10% payment, whether it be financial or acts of volunteering such as:
1. Mowing City Properties
2. Buying a Couple Gallons of Gas for the City Equipment
3. Buying Mosquito Spray for Volunteers
4. Providing Bottled Water and Snacks for Volunteers
5. Have a Bake Sale to Raise Money
If you need more information or have suggestions to help contact Mayor Jim Murphy or City Clerk Louann Insco. Remember the
Storm Shelter is for everyone and the members of the Council should not be the only ones to donate.
EVERYONE CAN DO SOMETHING---BIG OR LITTLE.
The City also received $4,917.00 in a Grant for the Park to buy two pieces of playground equipment. Karen Dekert, representing
The Greater Salina Community Foundation, presented the check to the Council on June 9th. A new Park Committee is being formed.
Submit your name to the City Clerk if you are interested in the Committee.
But the City's first priorty is the Kan-Step Project laying the new water pipe. When this project was started the City was told there
was a list of volunteers but it has dwindled down to a very few who have been working. Yes the weather was cold, then the rain and
now the heat, but the City has a Dead Line to get the work done. If you can help please call and talk to Louann at City Hall or leave
a message. She will find you a job.
REMEMBER THE ROADS WILL BE TORN UP UNTIL THE DIGGING IS DONE.
